Spelling Team
Our District Spelling Bee will be held in the school cafeteria for 5th and 6th grade and in the auditorium for grades 7 and 8, at 5:30, on Wednesday, October 13th. Students should arrive at 5:10 to get ready and organized. I will meet students in the lobby. Everyone is welcome to come and watch the teams compete.
NECAPS
Monday through Friday of this week, students will be taking the NECAP tests. Sections of the test will be given each morning from 8:00-10:15. Having students get plenty of rest, with regular bedtimes, and good breakfasts are important for concentration.
Writing Contest
Many students entered this month's school writing contest. The subject of the contest was, " the way thing were made". Students had to pick something and make up a fictitious story about how that thing was made. You could view the submitted stories on Mrs. Kennedy webpage: Write Away, found on the Danville Website. Congratulations to all students entering the contest : ) This week, in writing, students will design stories from their Writer's Notebook. Students will have time to submit stories for my review if they did not enter them in the writing contest.
Science
In science, student are receiving baby pictures weekly, as the fetus develops. This week we will begin to add pictures that progress through weeks instead of days to speed up the process. I am teaching daily lessons about the baby developing and then a lesson which explains DNA, chromosomes, traits, and body systems.
I hope you have a wonderful week, this fall weather is fabulous. Sincerely, Christine Rapoza
