Science and Writing

5th and 6th Graders are learning about the earth with Miss Tinkham.  She is a student teacher and is teaching some classes with Emily Greaves and some with me.

Miss Tinkham is co-teaching the writing classes with me and then will teach two writing classes.  Students worked on a friendly letter this week and will also continue to model a whole class, Response to Literature.  Next week, the 5ht and 6th graders will use individualized books to create RTLs.

The 7th graders are working on the scientific process and a lab report.  We have plenty of compost worms and the experiments are individualized to each student's interest.  This unit is called Recycling Naturally.

Scripps Spelling Competition at St. Michael's College

Merlin Gil went to this competition on Wednesday, March 16th.  Merlin was our Danville School representative.  He won the competition at the school level and went to the regional level sponcered by the Burlington Free Press.  Merlin made it to the 8th round with less than twenty students remaining.  He is an exceptional spelling student.  Congratulations, Merlin.

IROC

Our 5th and 6th grade students had a great experience at IROC. They were involved in team building games in the arena. The games were: hot chocolate river, team ball, and pass the hola hoop. Lunch followed and then it was time to take a swim in the pool. Students could go under raining umbrellas, down the waterslide and into the pool. What a great way to spend the day.
